There have been numerous times that I have provided friendly organizing tips to neighboring customers in store checkout lines. You know how it goes. You are patiently waiting in a store checkout line…. Someone near you makes a comment about some miscellaneous topic off the top of their head…. You comment back…. The next thing you know, you are bonding with this person, keeping each other entertained as you each wait to be the next person to purchase the items in your respective shopping carts. Since the Winter season is coming to an end, and this is typically the time of year to begin switching out Winter clothes for Spring clothes in our closets, I thought I would take this opportunity to share with you an organizing tip that has come up multiple times in ‘checkout line’ conversation.
“I love tall, stylish boots, but hate when they flop over while being stored in my closet, causing crease lines to form around the ankles.”
One, inexpensive solution that I love and use in my boots is a foam swim noodle cut into pieces, each to the general height of my boots. Insert a cut, foam swim noodle into each boot and voila! The boots stand up straight when I am not wearing them!
Another inexpensive solution that I have not tried, but I know people who have, is to roll up a magazine or newspaper, place a rubber band around it to keep it in a rolled position, and insert it into the boot (do this with each boot).
The foam swim noodles are pretty inexpensive. They often can be found on sale for as little as $1.00-$1.50 each over the Summer months. One noodle can be used for 3-4 boots, depending on the height of each boot. Just be sure to measure and count your boots before you shop for the noodles, so you know how many noodles you will need to buy. Most homes already have old magazines and/or newspapers on hand. Therefore, no additional purchase would be necessary for those organizing solutions, beyond the original subscription price. I love low cost/no cost organizing solutions, don’t you?
I hope you found these tips to be helpful! Thank you again for stopping by & Thank you for organizing with me!
